Mark Atherton is the pastor of NewStart. His burden is to start a church that will minister to those who have not been reached by the traditional church methodology.

For fourteen years, Mark was in the field of education. He was a college and high school basketball coach as well as a mathematics and physical education teacher. Mark became a Christian on August 29, 1993, at the age of 34.

Mark’s wife, Sue, is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University. She has taught high school mathematics for nine years. She presently is a special education teacher at Eagle’s Landing High School.

Mark and Sue have one foster son, Christopher, who was born on 10/18/02 and placed in his parents arms on 10/22/02.  Christopher will be adopted as soon as the legal work can be taken care of.
